With room sizes ranging from Mini to Loft, everybody can stay at this iconically cool New York outpost of the small hotel chain. There’s a very petite Opening Ceremony shop tucked into the lobby as a gift shop selling everything from Criterion Collection movies, Haribo Candy and McSweeney’s books as well as travel accessories and clothing by Comme de Garcons and Band of Outsiders handpicked by founders and active travelers Carol and Humberto . You’ll want to geo-tag your location at this hotel so that everyone knows where you’re staying in New York.

The Jane Hotel

This hotel feels a little bit out of a Wes Anderson movie. What started as a hotel for sailors, housed Titanic survivors and played host to New York rock and roll events like Hedwig and the Angry Inch. With such a rich history, there will be no lack of #hashtag possibilities. The hotel has small rooms with shared commodes as well as larger rooms which are priced higher than the very affordable small rooms. The whole place feels very reminiscent of the Tenenbaum family with vintage wallpaper and classic bellhop costumes.

This hotel has gotten rid of all the unnecessary and dated luxury hotel cliches to offer you what really matters in an über luxe hotel (huge windows, huge king sized beds and incredible decor) at a much cheaper cost. The rooms are fairly compact but the view from the window makes it seem spacious enough. The decor is fun, and something straight out of a David LaChapelle fashion photo shoot and would be the ultimate staged selfie shoot backdrop.

This newcomer hotel opened in July 1st, 2015 and is headed by chef David Burke who is putting his own extra delicious spin on turndown service: treats will include snacks like Baked by Melissa cupcakes, Fatty Sunday Pretzels, Kanpekies Shortbread Cookies, Chocolate Dipped Fancy Fortune Cookies, black and white Cookies, fruit pops and truffles. It would be worthwhile to get through a couple rotations at least so plan to stay at least a couple nights. Their curated art collection will make you feel like you’re staying at a gallery and so you’ll have plenty to post to keep your Instagram followers jealous.
The Marlton Hotel
The rooms might be on the small side but they are just dripping with opulence befitting the hotel tagline “Honey, I shrunk the Ritz”. The onsite restaurant, Margaux was inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “Tender Is The Night,” and offers such delicious tidbits like Risotto with asparagus and fresh mushrooms and grass fed steaks. It will come as no surprise that hotel regulars include the incredibly fashionable Daphne Guinness and editor of AnOther Magazine Jefferson Hack .

The Paper Factory Hotel

Both brand new and beautifully designed, this former paper factory turned hotel is also unconventional in the best way possible. The hotel has on display one of the oldest paper machines in America in the perfect mint green shade. Who needs Instagram filters when you’ve got colors like these? The rooms are all uniquely appointed as well, in case you’re shy about taking lobby selfies.
