Gather Your Grrrls and Visit These Resorts for Lesbian Travelers

Gather your grrrls, your bois, your high femmes and queer women for a trip like no other at some of the best resorts for lesbian travelers.

Planning to attend a Pride festival or looking for a queer-friendly getaway? Inclusivity is now the name of the game, and #lezbehonest: a trip ain’t a trip if you’re not feeling welcome. Luckily for the whole LGBTQ+ family, more resorts and hotels are flying rainbow-colored flags, creating experiences that are not only inclusive but are a good mix of relaxing and thrilling.

But while there are more and more places catered specifically for gay (male) travelers, there hasn’t been a lot of travel information available for lesbians and queer women. Finding a resort that is actually lesbian-friendly requires a little more digging, so we took the guesswork out of your hands and compiled a list for you and your sweetie, or for the whole squad.

It Goes Down in Provincetown

1/3

Think of Brass Key Guesthouse as a home away from home — a sanctuary right in the heart of Provincetown. The guesthouse is gay-owned and operated, having been in the business for over five decades. From luxurious amenities surrounding a courtyard pool with an oversized in-ground spa, lesbian travelers will find their stay both invigorating and relaxing. Their signature “Brass Key Experience” includes complimentary wine and cheese every afternoon, followed by a stop at the Shipwreck Lounge for their “Single Women’s Mixer” with the most delectable cocktails.

P-town delivers with a lineup of fun activities. If you’re a fan of the great outdoors, try whale-watching at the MacMillan Pier or go paddle-boarding or kayaking in the area. Head out to the Herring Cove beach where there’s a women-only section, complete with food stands, showers, and nearby parking. If you’re in the mood for a show, check out Paramount Room for special women’s events like “Girl Splash Idol.” FInish the night off with some dancing at the Pied Bar, the longest running women-owned club in the area.

A Mexican Gay Mecca

1/3

Gay beaches, gay bars, gay nightclubs, gay restaurants — what more could you ask for? Welcome to Casa Cupula, a boutique resort nestled in the lush Amapas neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta. Celebrating their 15th year anniversary this season, Casa Cupula glistens in the Zona Romantica as a world-renowned destination with the sweetest suites, an infinity pool, a gym and a complete spa. This year, they announced the debut of their Frida Kahlo suite, an homage to the (lesbian, queer?) Mexican painter and one of the heroes of the international LGBTQ+ community.

Ask ¿Dónde están las mujeres? (Where are the women?) and you’ll find them all over the area underneath the Vallarta heat, with its thriving lesbian scene. Go on an eco-adventure with Los Veranos Canopy Tours, a lesbian-owned tour company and zip through the Sierra Madre mountains. Go on a lesbian day cruise with Diana DeCoste, who’s been running the enterprise Diana Tours which quickly sells out. Head down to Olas Atlas Street right after, reminiscent of a Paris back street and wander past cafe, shops or hit up one of the clubs.
