Todd Orlich fell in love with the hospitality industry during his first job as a restaurant dishwasher. “There is one clear moment I remember that left an indelible impression on me. I was washing dishes alone at the end of dinner service one evening, and when no one was around, I snuck into the empty dining room. The space was perfectly set waiting for the next day’s guests, who would enjoy an unforgettable culinary experience; the sight gave me goose bumps. In that moment, I knew that I loved luxury hospitality.”
Orlich moved to California in 2002 to join Montage Hotels & Resorts, and became General Manager of Montage Beverly Hills in 2014. His passion for the industry is transported by all the members of Montage’s talented team, and their impeccable, personalized service, combined with an incomparable location inside the Golden Triangle, and a unique blend of vintage Hollywood style, Beverly Hills sophistication, and modern luxury, make Montage a clear choice for trivago’s Dream Hotel.
“We are surrounded by iconic and historic hotels here in Beverly Hills,” says Orlich, “and in spite of being the newest luxury hotel in the area, Montage Beverly Hills has woven itself into the fabric of this closely knit community.” Indeed, the hotel is surrounded on all sides by the elegance and charm of Beverly Hills. Its architecture is influenced by the Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean ambiance of glamourous 20s and 30s Southern California, and is complimented by classically elegant furnishings, and a meticulously curated art collection including paintings, architectural studies, vintage photography, and set drawings and original costume designs from film classics.
Orlich elaborates: “The city has long been synonymous with glamour, since the world’s first motion picture stars favored it with their lavish Spanish Revival estates in the 1920s, and the hotel reflects this character through its decor, architectural design and overall ambiance. Beverly Hills is also known for its unrivalled concentration of couture and designer boutiques, fine art and antiques galleries, exclusive auction houses and renowned restaurants. The vision for Montage Beverly Hills was to provide convenient access to all of these exceptional offerings, along with providing a memorable service experience that mirrors the sophistication Beverly Hills is known for.”
“We have a designated Guest Relations team tasked with reaching out to all guests prior to arrival to assist with special requests, dining and spa reservations.”
The atmosphere of Montage Beverly Hills is one of comfortable luxury, and the team is dedicated to providing a welcoming and warm setting for every guest to enjoy not only the best that Beverly Hills has to offer just steps away from the hotel, but also the world class accommodations, dining, and spa of the hotel itself. “We have a designated Guest Relations team tasked with reaching out to all guests prior to arrival to assist with special requests, dining and spa reservations, as well as any other tailored preparation needed to ensure guests are completely comfortable throughout their stay.” A meeting each day with representatives from every department of the hotel makes sure that the entire team is aware of any specific requests, amenities arranged, and allergies or dietary restrictions, as well as any feedback received from guests the day before. Orlich finds that their guests are “active, curious, open and always willing to offer honest feedback,” and the team takes every necessary step to guarantee the comfort and satisfaction of every guest.
Spa Montage, the hotel’s spa, recently received the prestigious Forbes Five Star rating, earning Montage the distinction of being the only Five Star Hotel with a Five Star Spa in Beverly Hills. The 20,000 square foot oasis is the most comprehensive health, wellness, and beauty spa in Los Angeles, and provides the best of all the standard services and amenities that a discerning spa-goer would expect, along with unique treatments such as the lavish caviar facials and elegant, resort-like facilities such as Eucalyptus steam rooms, dry redwood saunas, fireplaces lounges, and a mineral pool.
Guests can complete their glamorous Beverly Hills experience at Montage in the on-site salon of celebrity colorist Kim Vo, with a complimentary consultation with in-house fashion stylist Joseph Katz, or with a meal or cocktail at one of the hotel’s several outstanding dining venues. Classic Italian food at Scarpetta, made to order sandwiches from Paninoteca, healthy, fresh California cuisine at the Rooftop Grill, or comfort food in the comfort of your room 24 hours a day—no matter the choice, guests can expect a culinary experience on par with the rest of the five star experience at Montage.
“Here, we offer the rarest whiskies from Macallan and Highland Park, along with some of the best and finest spirits from around the world.”
Take it from the experts and wind down with a drink at one of the hotel’s exclusive bars. “Lately, my favorite place in the hotel is our beautiful, intimate Macallan whisky bar, £10,” says Orlich, “Here, we offer the rarest whiskies from Macallan and Highland Park, along with some of the best and finest spirits from around the world. All cocktails are handcrafted tableside in an intimate but convivial social atmosphere overlooking the Beverly Canon Gardens. £10 is truly a memorable experience, and definitely one worth exploring if you are visiting Montage Beverly Hills!”
