The AFI FEST is curated to showcase the best festival films of the year and provide an opportunity for master filmmakers and emerging artists to come together with audiences in the cinematic capital of the world. Before you take a red-eye flight back to the East Coast, make sure to stay a few nights to soak in some sun — they’re predicting a pretty nasty winter this year!

Your 747 just landed at JFK, you checked-in for a few nights at a hotel, dropped your bags off and just made it in time to laugh until the blue in your face resembles that of a Smurf. The New York Comedy Festival is set for five days, starting November 5th, and brought to you by Carolines on Broadway in association with Comedy Central.
You can gasp for air from venue to venue, making your way from the historic Comedy Cellar, where Louis C.K. got his start, all the way to the legendary Carnegie Hall. Make sure to secure seats for Jim Gaffigan, Dave Attell, and Nick Offerman by purchasing a fan pass!

Back in 2009, after a screening of director Ron Mann’s Know Your Mushrooms, Iron Chef star Brad Farmerie of PUBLIC served up a 10-course mushroom-inspired tasting menu to those in attendance of the Food Film Fest. For the foodie at heart, the FFF takes over Chicago running from November 19th to the 22nd and delivers documentaries, features and short films, covering cuisines that span the globe.

Just like the Oscars they award the Best Feature and the Best Short; but they also have awards for Best Food Porn and Food Filmmaker of the Year. You might want to kick your feet up and lodge in the Windy City to let the Ramen Burger digest before making the trek back to your hometown.
