Sweet Suites: 10 Luxury Hotels in NYC with Power Penthouses and Prime Perks

Local writer Eva Leonard takes you through some of the top luxury hotels in NYC.

Entering a suite or penthouse in one of Manhattan’s luxury hotels makes me feel both sublimely cocooned from the crush and clamor of the streets and as though the entire world is at my feet. The indulgent amenities, premium pampering and sumptuous décor create a powerful elevation in mood that is often further enhanced by eye-popping views of the city and beyond that stretch for miles.

In a city where space is at a premium, Manhattan hotels make the most of it, especially when it comes to suites and penthouses, those often booked by celebrities, politicos and CEOs. Over-the-top creature comfort is the name of the game, from a private backyard at Crosby Street Hotel and a rooftop terrace at Roxy Hotel TriBeCa, to a two-story fireplace at The Royalton Park Avenue Hotel.

These perks pair nicely with the hotels’ exciting amenities. Whether they be sizzling hot celebrity chef restaurants, like Jonathan Waxman’s Jams restaurant at 1 Hotel Central Park, or in-house theaters showing cutting-edge films, like the screening room at the Roxy Hotel TriBeCa, you’ll find a way to treat yourself at these 10 luxury hotels in NYC.

A Luxury Hotel in NYC with an in-house BMW

The Peninsula‘s stately circa 1905 neo-classical façade is a real head-turner and your first hint that this is no ordinary hotel. Guests staying in one of the Peninsula’s individually themed suites can motor around town in style in a chauffeured MINI Cooper S Clubman and stays in the hotel’s Peninsula Suite include round-trip airport transfers in the house BMW.

The Peninsula Suite houses six rooms decorated with plush furnishings, modern art and sculptures and a baby grand piano (should you have the urge to tickle the ivories). When you’re ready to be pampered further, book a luxurious treatment at the Peninsula Spa, like the pearl-infused mineral body mask, and spend some quality time in the spa’s indoor pool, sun terrace, and Asian Tea Lounge.
