9 Incredibly Romantic Getaways Around Utah

From inns on red rock desert cliffs to lodges near snow-capped peaks, get away with your special someone at these nine romantic hotels around Utah.

Surrounded by red sandstone cliffs and wide-open desert, St. George, Utah, is home to some of the American West’s most dramatic landscapes. My husband and I had planned a Switzerland vacation for our first wedding anniversary, but we’re instead road tripping to southern Utah.

Our basecamp: Inn on the Cliff, a 27-room boutique property with views of town and red rock from every balcony.

From here, we visit Snow Canyon State Park, a lesser-known desertscape surrounded by ancient lava flows, slot canyons, and red rock towers. We spend the afternoon hiking underground lava tubes and crossing sand dunes to scenic canyon overlooks. As the sun sets, we’re clinking glasses at a table for two overlooking otherworldly rocky landscapes.

Though we’ve traveled the world together, there’s nothing more romantic than exploring the wild, natural landscapes of our native state. And while it wasn’t the anniversary we’d planned, our Utah getaway rejuvenated our romance and connected us through our shared passion of adventuring outdoors—without the transatlantic flight.

Whether you’re seeking an escape to Utah’s deserts or a cozy ski lodge retreat in Park City, these nine Utah hotels deliver just the right blend of adventure, relaxation, and romance.

Cliffside Romance in Southern Utah's St. George

Experience panoramic views of colorful sandstone formations from the private decks off every room at Inn on the Cliff, a boutique hotel in the charming town of St. George. Couple these captivating views with modern rooms featuring plush Beautyrest mattresses, and you’ll have little desire to leave your suite.

However, when you do, you’ll find an outdoor hot tub and pool open for playful relaxation, as well as St. George’s most romantic restaurant.

Reserve a table for two at Cliffside, nestled next to Inn on the Cliff, for elegant cuisine and excellent patio ambiance. It’s easy to see why its outdoor tables overlooking the city are one of the area’s most popular proposal spots, and guests receive complimentary desserts when celebrating special occasions. Pair the elevated American fare with Cliffside’s extensive wine and beer list—a rare offering in conservative southern Utah. Every morning, snuggle longer with your sweetie over breakfast delivered to your room.

Mild winter temperatures and sunny summers make St. George ideal for year-round exploration. Rent a bike and pedal paved paths through the city, or drive 10 miles to the red rock formations of Snow Canyon State Park. The park’s name is a misnomer, as you’ll rarely find fluffy flakes. Instead, the vast dunes and soaring sandstone welcome desert adventurers. Hike the Gila Trail to see Native American petroglyphs, or stroll on Jenny’s Trail for slot canyon sightings and sunset panoramas.
