In the middle of the workweek, I decided to just drop everything and create a special spa day for myself.
Yes, just for me! This time I thought I’d try something different by taking a short drive north from Miami to Fort Lauderdale’s Spa Atlantic at the Atlantic Hotel & Spa. Here’s my diary entry of a gentleman’s day at the spa in Fort Lauderdale.[caption id="attachment_40747" align="alignnone" width="1200"] Fort Lauderdale beach views. I normally choose a massage when I “spa”, but I was feeling a little adventurous and took a leap by choosing a facial rather than a massage. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m always told I have beautiful skin but since I am approaching my fifties, I figured this spa visit would be the perfect time to seek some professional help to maintain that youthful glow.

This Spa in Fort Lauderdale sits directly across from the beach making it possible to enjoy treatments at the Atlantic Hotel without a worry in the world. Enjoy the spa’s facilities and even go to the beach — all as part of a visit to the spa alone. The hotel is lovely with large, tastefully appointed rooms. Combining a spa experience with a night or two at the hotel is the ideal spa getaway.

The pleasant greeting I received upon my arrival at Spa Atlantic indicated to me that I’d made the right decision of where to treat myself. On the way back, I was given a quick tour of the spa facilities which include a spotless gym packed full of some of my favorite equipment (I love Cybex Arc Trainers), a sun terrace with a magnificent view and fully equipped locker room with a huge whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Compared to some of the spas I’ve visited on South Beach, this spa was surprisingly gigantic yet peaceful.[caption id="attachment_40750" align="aligncenter" width="805"] Atlantic Spa treatment room. From the spa menu, I chose the Gentleman’s Facial. The treatment room was quiet and comfortable and the treatment itself was extremely relaxing; so much so I could barely stay awake. In fact, I did slip off into a nap for just a little bit. It was impossible not to drift off with the aromatherapy of the natural botanical products used by the esthetician which were soothing and gentle; leaving me feeling rejuvenated and refreshed!

If all of this pampering has worked up your appetite, no need to wander far. Beauty & The Feast Bar and Kitchen (what a clever name, right?) offers a globally inspired menu of American classics fit for everyone’s palette. If you want to enjoy even more sunshine the Ocean Market Grille offers restaurant go-ers a casual lunch on an oceanfront terrace with captivating views.[caption id="attachment_22750" align="aligncenter" width="670"] Ocean Market Grille.
