Best Hotels for Spring Training Baseball in Arizona’s Cactus League

Spring Training is that glorious time of year that lets you know baseball is around the corner. For those of you heading down to get a sneak peek of your favorite team, we've got a hotel to match near the stadium.

Spring training baseball is almost here and it’s never too early to start planning your trip to Arizona around your favorite team. We know you’re heading to town strictly for the baseball and that the hotel is secondary. That said, you’ll still want someplace comfortable to rest your head and we’re already seeing limited availability in March with hotels near the stadiums, so you’ll want to get booking.

Catching Cactus League Spring Training baseball is a sports fan’s dream. Here you have 15 teams spread across 10 stadiums, all within the greater Phoenix region but spread out just enough that you get to see a number of different towns and cities along the way. Plus, the desert heat sure is nice if you’re following your team south from a northern winter city.

Below, we have all of the Cactus League stadiums complete with their teams and hotel options near the ballpark.

Stay Near Surprise Stadium

1/4

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers call Surprise Stadium in Surprise home for Spring Training. At Residence Inn Phoenix Northwest – Surprise, you’ll not only be located just a five-minute walk away from the stadium but also staying at one of the top-rated hotels in town.

The aparthotel offers spacious studios and suites with fully-equipped kitchens, plus an outdoor pool and a whirlpool to relax between games. Only visiting for baseball with no interest in special amenities? Fair enough – but these comfortable accommodations coupled with the location really can’t be beaten.

Surprise is right on the edge of the greater Phoenix area’s footprint, so if you want to explore the region’s nature, head west where you’ll hit White Tank Mountain Regional Park and miles of desert.

Stay Near Maryvale Baseball Park

1/3

Ironically, the only Spring Training ballpark in Phoenix is one of the most isolated. Cheeseheads coming out from Wisconsin to see the Milwaukee Brewers will be spending their time in a residential corner of Phoenix at Maryvale Baseball Park.

At La Quinta Inn & Suites Phoenix I-10 West, you’ll be a little ways away from the action, but it’s as close as you can get. But look at the positives: the property, featuring roomy and well-equipped suites, will put you within a 15-minute drive from downtown Phoenix. So if you aren’t only coming for baseball, this is the perfect compromise.

Stay Near Tempe Diablo Stadium

1/4

Heading away from Phoenix, across the Salt River in Tempe, you can find Tempe Diablo Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Angels, who are another one of the lucky teams to have a Spring Training Stadium all to themselves. Just make sure you don’t miss the first pitch because you’re off dipping in the pool or enjoying a massage – this resort is well worth a trip, no matter if baseball is part of the plan.
